Welcome to Malaysia! Upon arrival into Kuala Lumpur meet with our representative at the arrival hall and then transfer to your hotel.

Kuala Lumpur

This morning, we get to know the captivating city of Kuala Lumpur with a city tour. Start with a visit to the iconic Petronas Skybridge, the world’s highest two-story bridge, where you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of the city. Next, head to Independence Square, or Dataran Merdeka, for a photo stop at the picturesque Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Royal Selangor Club, and St. Mary’s Church. From there, stroll to the historic Jamek Mosque, the oldest in Kuala Lumpur, and explore the KL River of Life before continuing to the vibrant Chinatown. In Chinatown, visit the beautiful Sin Sze Ya Temple, a serene Taoist sanctuary, followed by a short walk to the nearby Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Kuala Lumpur’s oldest Hindu temple. Enjoy an included lunch before returning to the hotel, with the rest of the day free for leisure.

Meet back up with the tour leader in the evening to get a taste for Malaysian cuisine and get to know your fellow travellers with a welcome dinner.

Batu Caves and Outskirts

After enjoying breakfast, set out for the limestone hills of Batu Caves, located just on the outskirts of the city. Ascend the 272 rainbow steps leading to the sacred temple cave, home to the shrine of a revered Hindu deity. Explore the museum cave as well, where you’ll find an array of deity images and murals illustrating scenes from Hindu scriptures. Next, visit the Batik Gallery to witness the intricate process of designing and printing batik.

Then, head to Royal Selangor Pewter, the largest and most modern pewter factory in the world, celebrated for its high-quality products and exceptional craftsmanship. During the factory tour, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the various stages of pewter production. Afterwards, put your skills to the test in the School of Hard Knocks Workshop, where you’ll craft your own pewter dish. Using traditional tools and techniques, you’ll master the art of hammering and moulding pewter. After the class, you can take home your handmade masterpiece, along with a special apron and certificate of achievement- what a fantastic souvenir! Enjoy an included lunch before returning to your hotel, with the rest of the day free for relaxation and leisure.

Kuala Lumpur - Melaka

Today we head down south to Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its fusion of Malay, Chinese, British and Portuguese influences. Upon arrival, start your exploration of the historic city by passing Bukit Cina, the largest Chinese cemetery outside of China. Continue driving into the heart of Melaka, where you’ll pass by the Dutch Square, home to the iconic Stadhuys and Christ Church. Visit the famous gateway, Porta De Santiago, and take in the ruins of A’Famosa along with the majestic St. Paul’s Church perched atop the hill. Return to the Red Square and stop at the Chen Hoon Teng Temple, the oldest functioning temple in the country.

Next, visit the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum, which showcases the local history of the Baba-Nyonya, or Straits Chinese, community. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll along Jonker Street, famous for its antique shops, before heading to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Melaka and Kampung Cantik Village

Today is an immersive journey into the heart of traditional Melaka at the Kampung Cantik village. Upon arrival, you’ll delve into the local way of life, beginning with an introduction to the rubber tree, followed by a closer look at the oil palm, a plant known for its versatile and widely used oil. As you stroll through the village, you’ll pass by charming Malay Kampung houses, and discover the fragrant treasures of the area, from curry leaves and pandan to kaffir lime, lemongrass, and breadfruit trees. Along the way, you’ll also encounter a variety of seasonal and non-seasonal fruits, including the famously exotic durian and rambutan. Within the village, you’ll find a small paddy field, where you’ll learn about the seasonal cultivation of rice.

Get a taste of village life by participating in traditional activities like top spinning and Silat, a Malay martial art style. Then, unleash your creativity during a batik-making session with a local artist who will guide you through the process of creating hand-drawn batik. Choose your colours, pick up a brush, and craft a piece of art to take home as a souvenir. After a delightful included lunch at the kampung, you’ll return to your hotel to relax and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

Melaka – Cameron Highlands

Check out after breakfast and get ready for a long drive to Cameron Highlands, located 1542 meters above sea level. En-route, we will briefly stop at Lata Iskandar waterfall for a break before arriving into the highlands and your hotel for the next couple of nights. Enjoy an included dinner and relax in the elevated countryside.

Cameron Highlands (Mossy Forest and Tea Plantation)

Start your morning with a scenic drive to Mount Brinchang, the highest peak in the Cameron Highlands at 6,666 feet. Here, you’ll step into the tropical and mossy rainforest for a stroll along a boardwalk. This guided walk through the Mossy Forest offers a close-up look at the mountain’s unique flora, including the carnivorous Pitcher Plant, ancient Ferns, wild Orchids, Ti trees, and vibrant Rhododendrons. Afterwards, you’ll descend to the stunning Sungai Palas Boh estate, one of the most picturesque and largest tea plantations in the region. At the tea factory, you’ll discover the delicate art of tea making (note: the factory is closed on Mondays and public holidays).

Continue your exploration of the Highlands with visits to a bustling marketplace, a butterfly farm, and a cactus garden. For lunch, unwind at The Smokehouse, a charming English cottage-style inn, where you can dine with views of its award-winning gardens. Before heading back to your hotel, enjoy some free time to wander through Brinchang town at your own pace.

Cameron Highlands - Ipoh

Today we set off to Ipoh, a town renowned for its rich tin mining history in the 19th century. Your journey starts with a visit to one of Ipoh’s famous cave temples, a serene introduction to the city’s cultural depth. Next, head to Ipoh Oldtown for the Ipoh Heritage Walk, beginning at the grand Ipoh Railway Station, often referred to as the “Taj Mahal of Ipoh” for its striking Moorish architecture. As you stroll through the streets, you’ll pass by historic buildings and landmarks, each narrating a piece of Ipoh’s storied past. The walk concludes at Panglima Lane, a narrow passageway established in 1908, once home to wealthy Chinese, British officers, and businessmen. Today, this charming lane is lined with beautifully restored pre-war shophouses, showcasing the town’s heritage. The rest of the evening is free for you to unwind at your leisure.

Ipoh – Kuala Kangsar – Orang Utan Island - Ferringhi Beach, Penang

After breakfast, we begin the journey to Penang, with a stop at the historic Royal town of Kuala Kangsar. Here, capture the beauty of the Ubudiah Mosque, the grandeur of Iskandariah Palace, and the charm of Istana Kenangan, all from the outside.

We then head to Bukit Merah, where we’ll visit Orang Utan Island to learn more about the fascinating Orangutans. Native to the rainforests of Malaysia and Indonesia, the endangered Orangutans are now found only in parts of Borneo and Sumatra. Orang Utan Island is dedicated to ex-situ conservation efforts, education and research programs. Explore the wonders of nature, hang around and discover what makes them so unique.

We finally will then arrive in Penang, often referred to as the “Pearl of the Orient,”. After crossing one of the world’s longest bridges to Penang Island we will check into the beautiful Shangri-la Gold Sands (or similar) at Ferringhi Beach.

George Town Heritage Tour

Today we take a captivating tour of George Town, diving into the heart of its UNESCO Heritage Site. Begin with a stunning bird’s-eye view of Penang Island from The Top Komtar Tower’s open-air platform, perched high above George Town. Conquer your fear of heights with an exhilarating stroll 249 meters above ground along the Penang Rainbow Skywalk and Observatory Deck.

Next, wander through the vibrant Chowrasta Market, Penang’s largest and greenest market, a perfect spot for people-watching and soaking up local culture. Pick up local treasures like Tau Sar Piah (bean-paste biscuits) and preserved nutmeg at great prices.

Continue your exploration at Fort Cornwallis, then stroll through the water village of The Clan Jetties at Weld Quay, and hunt for stunning street art along Penang Street Art. Visit Khoo Kong Si, one of the most impressive clan houses, renowned for its intricate carvings and masterful woodwork from China. Itinerary

Our multi-stop Malaysia tour is carefully designed to give a real insight into the highlights, culture and beauty of the country. Each day will be different, with a combination of travel days, sightseeing and free time to explore or take a breather as you wish.

Pace

The pace of this tour is medium paced. The tour covers several areas of Malaysia and can involve some early starts and long travel days – see the itinerary for an indication of the distances travelled by the coach. The on-the-go nature of multi-city tours rewards you with maximum sightseeing opportunities. One to two nights at each destination is standard.

Fitness

A moderate level of fitness is required. You are required to move about unassisted, including boarding and alighting vehicles and other forms of transportation, walking up and down flights of stairs, and navigating occasional uneven or steep terrain. You will be required to carry your own baggage to and from hotels, terminals and stations. Airport transfer services may not arrive directly at the hotel reception and a short walk between the station and hotel may be required. This trip is not suitable for travellers requiring wheelchair, mobility scooters or facilities for disabled guests. Other walking aids may be permitted if you are able to move about unassisted at the required pace. Please note that there will be a fair amount of walking on tour and some locations will have stairs. For advice on whether this trip is suitable for you, you must disclose physical ailments at the time of booking.

Transfers

Arrival and departure group tour airport transfers are included providing you are arriving on the first and last day of the tour. Transfers are not included for early arrival into Kuala Lumpur, or extending your stay in Penang. Airport transfers may operate at designated times and may be group or independent services using private or public transportation. A short walk to the hotel carrying your own luggage may be required from the drop-off point.

Meals

All breakfasts are included as part of the tour. For other meals included in the itinerary, we aim to cater to a wide range of tastes, providing food that is not too spicy or unusual but still represents the delicious local cuisine.  Any dietary requests should be specified at the time of booking.  We endeavour to pass on your dietary requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. You are required to reconfirm dietary requests with your tour leader whilst on tour. Your patience and understanding are appreciated.

Baggage

Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach. Porterage is not included, and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Group Size

On a tour you will meet like-minded travellers and may even make lifelong friends. This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size of approximately 15 people and a maximum group size of approximately 30 people. If the tour does not operate due to minimum numbers, you will be offered a credit or alternative date.

While you will not spend much time in the hotels, each has been carefully selected to suit the size and needs of the group. Our accommodation is generally of a quality 3 to 4-star or higher local rating. All hotel rooms will feature either a twin room (two single beds) or a double room (1 Queen bed). All bedding requests cannot be guaranteed however all special requests should be made known at time of booking. All rooms are lead-in category or run of house unless otherwise specified. All hotel rooms will be requested as nonsmoking. Hotel names referenced are to be used as an indicative guide for the standard of accommodation to expect. Actual hotels may differ and will be confirmed on your final documentation.

A first deposit from $499 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit (partial payment) is due 10 months before departure – the amount to be advised at the time of booking. The final balance will be due 5 months before departure. Full payment is due at the time of booking for departures within 5 months.

Pre- or post-tour accommodation in Kuala Lumpur and Penang with breakfast in the same tour hotel or a similar location can be added for one or two persons. This is subject to availability. Pre-tour accommodation in Kuala Lumpur is based on a from price of $200 per room per night. Post-tour accommodation in Penang is based on a from price of $270 per room per night.
Please note transfers are not included for when booking pre- and post-tour accommodation.

Child

This tour is best enjoyed by adult travellers and is not suitable for children under 10 years of age. Children 10 years and above are subject to the adult price and must be accompanied by an adult.

Amendment

Cancellation is subject to a fee from $550 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.

Deviation

Any request to deviate from the original dates or routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference. Packaged tour extensions are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing.

Passport

For international travel, each customer must provide a copy of the passport photo page at the time of booking. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all names are full names exactly matched to the passport with six months validity beyond trip completion. The customer is liable for all fees due to incorrect names, invalid passport information and expired passports.

Visa

A visa is generally not required for Australian passport holders visiting Malaysia for the purpose of short-term tourism; however, this policy is subject to change without notice. Visa requirements for each origin and destination country are the responsibility of the customer to check and obtain (if required) with the local consulate or embassy. The customer is liable for all visa application costs and fees due to the failure to obtain the required travel documents. Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.

Effective December 2023, all foreigners entering Malaysia will be required to complete the “Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)” at least 3 days prior to their arrival. This applies to all travellers, except for those transiting or transferring through Singapore without seeking immigration clearance, Malaysian permanent residents, and Malaysian Automated Clearance System (MACS) holders. Health

It is the responsibility of the customer to check and comply with the health, vaccination, COVID-19 and immigration requirements of each origin and destination country, and health requirements imposed by air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers. Arrival and departure group tour airport transfers are included providing you are arriving on the first and last day of the tour. Transfers are not included for early arrival into Kuala Lumpur, or extending your stay in Penang. Airport transfers may operate at designated times and may be group or independent services using private or public transportation. A short walk to the hotel carrying your own luggage may be required from the drop-off point.

Meals

All breakfasts are included as part of the tour. For other meals included in the itinerary, we aim to cater to a wide range of tastes, providing food that is not too spicy or unusual but still represents the delicious local cuisine. Any dietary requests should be specified at the time of booking.  We endeavour to pass on your dietary requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. You are required to reconfirm dietary requests with your tour leader whilst on tour. Your patience and understanding are appreciated.

Accommodation

While you will not spend much time in the hotels, each has been carefully selected to suit the size and needs of the group. Our accommodation is generally of a quality 3 to 4-star or higher local rating. All hotel rooms will feature either a twin room (two single beds) or a double room (1 Queen bed). All bedding requests cannot be guaranteed however all special requests should be made known at time of booking. All rooms are lead-in category or run of house unless otherwise specified. All hotel rooms will be requested as nonsmoking. Hotel names referenced are to be used as an indicative guide for the standard of accommodation to expect. Actual hotels may differ and will be confirmed on your final documentation. Please note: The Strawberry Park Resort Cameron Highlands does not have a lift, fans or air-conditioning. However, it is located in the Cameron Highlands which enjoys a much cooler temperature throughout the year, unlike the normal typical tropical climate in the rest of Malaysia.

Tourism Tax 

Non-Malaysian travellers and foreign passport holders are required to pay the Malaysia Tourism Tax (TTx). The TTx is collected by your hotels/lodges upon check-in and they may request to photocopy your identification documents such as your passport. Malaysian Tourism Tax is 10 MYR per night, per room. Approximately $3 AUD. This is a standard practice to ensure compliance with the Tourism Tax regulations.

Tipping

Tipping for the tour guides as well as the drivers is a customary element of the tourism and strongly recommended as a gesture of appreciation for the service provided. The suggested tipping amount is the equivalent of AUD$5 per person each day is recommended.

Flights

The outbound flight may depart one day prior to day 1 shown on the itinerary. The inbound flight may arrive one day after the final day shown on the itinerary. Flights are booked approximately 8 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel levies, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flight team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.

Fuel

In the unlikely event of a significant increase in fuel costs levied by third-party air, land and cruise transportation operators before travel, a fuel supplement may be passed on to the customer.

Group Size

You will meet like-minded travellers on tour and may even make lifelong friends. This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size of approximately 15 passengers and a maximum group size of approximately 30 passengers. If the tour does not operate, you will be offered a credit. The operation of optional programs is subject to a minimum group size. If the minimum number for optional programs is not reached, you will be refunded.

Tour Extensions

Tour extensions must be booked at least 10 months before departure or before flights are issued.

Optional Tours

Optional programs are subject to a minimum of 10 passengers and must be booked at least 3 months before departure. If the optional programs do not operate, you will be refunded.

Itinerary

The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.

Breakaway

Customers must remain with the tour group at all times and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure.

Documentation

Final documentation will be emailed within two weeks of departure. For packages consisting of multiple tours or countries, documentation will be emailed individually within two weeks of departure of each respective tour.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended. Ask our holiday experts for great coverage options.

Force Majeure

Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
