Day 1: Budapest, Hungary
Upon arrival, a tour representative will meet you at Vienna airport and escort you to check-in to the 4 star hotel. Note: Due to flight times and scheduling, some customers may be required to depart on the day before (day 0). Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2: Budapest, Hungary – Vienna, Austria
This morning after breakfast, take a guided tour through the ‘Pest’ part of Hungary’s historic capital. See the Palace of the Parliament, imposing St Stephen’s Basilica, Heroes’ Square with its statues and the Millennium Monument. Walk through the park Varosliget and admire grand Castle of Vajdahunyad. Bound by the River Danube, Budapest is crammed with baroque, neo-classical and art nouveau buildings.
The coach will then travel on to Vienna, Austria. Visit the vast Schonbrunn Palace, one of Vienna’s most significant and memorable grand buildings. Explore the extensive grounds, with 44 marble sculptures, fountains and the breathtaking Palm House, an 18th century greenhouse. Relax for the rest of the day and evening.
Day 3: Vienna, Austria
Today’s guided tour of Vienna begins with the ”Ringstrasse”, an important road following the perimeter of the ancient city walls and separating it from the rest of the historical center of Vienna. Significant buildings include the Museum of Applied Arts, Opera House, Museums of Fine Arts and Natural Sciences, Court Theatre and ‘University’. Finally, visit the ‘Hofburg’; former winter residence of the Habsburgs and home to the Imperial Treasury (Schatzkammer), Spanish Riding School, National Library and the Emperor’s Tomb.
Day 4: Vienna to Prague
After breakfast this morning, enjoy the views from your comfortable air conditioned coach as you are driven north from Austria into the Czech Republic and beautiful Prague. Enjoy the rest of the day to relax or find some of Prague’s famous cafes and bars to experience the excellent local food and outstanding beers.
Day 5: Prague, Czech Republic
Today’s city tour starts in wonderful Wenceslas Square. Be guided to the New City district, through avenue Am Graben and Piazza della Repubblica. Enter Prague’s Old Town via the Powder Gate the Royal Route, past Theatre Stavovske and the oldest university in Central Europe – Charles University – founded in 1348. Now in Town Square, take in the outstanding Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque style buildings, including the famous Astronomical clock. Continue walking through luxurious Paris Street to enter the Jewish Quarter, one of the largest concentrations of Jewish culture in Europe with its synagogues, Jewish museum and cemetery. Walk on to Charles Bridge, elegantly spanning the Vltava River. The tour ends in Old Town Square.
Day 6: Prague – Nuremberg
Head west today, crossing the border into Germany. Enjoy free time to explore Nuremburg, known as the heart of Bavaria. Explore the walled Old Town and take in the cities complex artistic and political history.
Day 7: Nuremberg – Baden Baden
After breakfast and checkout, the coach will travel on through the German countryside to Baden- Baden, where you can enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 8: Baden-Baden, Germany
You will be greeted by a Uniworld representative and transferred to the Hotel Dorint in Baden-Baden for the start of your tour.
Day 9: Baden-Baden, Germany
Baden-Baden is known as a spa town, and appropriately so. The city’s contemporary flair meshes with hot springs, spas and unspoiled nature, offering a wonderfully diverse collection of relaxing and invigorating experiences. Whether you embark on a tour of the city with a visit to the Festspielhaus or take full advantage of Baden-Baden’s curative powers at the Caracalla Thermal Bath or Sea Salt Grotto, you’ll leave feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and ready for everything else that’s in store. Today, you’ll check out of your hotel in Baden-Baden and head to Strasbourg to board the River Queen, one of our most unique ships on Europe’s waterways, for the cruise portion of your tour.
Day 11: Strasbourg, France
Strasbourg is invariably described as quaint, a rather overused word that in this case is perfectly apropos. This historic town with its cobbled lanes, half-timbered homes, giant stork nests and impossible-to-resist pastry shops will win your heart. You may choose to see Strasbourg via a panoramic tour, which would give you an enlightening and relaxing overview of this historically important city. Or you may experience the historic core as the locals do, with a walking tour. Day 12: Speyer, Germany
Expect the unexpected in Speyer, where ancient treasures harmoniously coexist with modern-day innovation. For something really unexpected, venture into a mysterious, candlelit tasting room to sample flavourful elixirs made from wine vinegars. Utterly unique and surprisingly delicious. The ship docks in Speyer, where you’ll have to choose between boarding a motorcoach for a guided walking tour or taking in a private tasting at a local vinegar estate. Day 13 – 14: Cochem, Germany
The picturesque town of Cochem is nestled in a particularly scenic area of the Moselle Valley. The Moselle River cuts through the town, leaving Cochem in two distinct halves on two steep hills, one on the left side of the river and one on the right. Discover Cochem’s perfect quaintness on foot, with stops along the city wall’s medieval gates and Marktplatz. Uncover Cold War secrets in the quiet residential area of Cochem-Cond, the location of a bunker that held replacement currency during the Cold War. Day 15: Trier, Germany

Bernkastel sits peacefully in the Moselle Valley and is as romantic and picture-perfect as it gets. Explore by foot its scenic streets, taverns and vineyards, and enjoy a tasting of exceptional regional Rieslings. Aside from the medieval marketplace, a must-see is the Graach Gate, the last remaining town gate of Bernkastel-Kues. Its original purpose was that of protection, hoping to ward off foreign aggression in the 1300s, but now it’s a museum of local history and a beloved landmark. If a bike is your transportation of choice, cycle along the dreamy paths of the middle Moselle. Day 18: Boppard, Germany – (Cruising the Romantic Rhine River) – Rüdesheim, Germany
Boppard is as picture-perfect as it gets. Wander through its stone-laden streets, riverside walking paths and historic center, stopping in for wine at the half-timbered taverns serving up exceptional Riesling from grapes grown on nearby vineyards. In Rüdesheim, make your way up to arguably the best view in the entire region, Rhine Bend, by scenic chairlift ride. See the Rhine River at its most astonishing point and stroll through its vineyard-dotted hillsides before heading back down to its waterfront streets. Enjoy a visit to Rheinstein Castle and learn the history of this long-standing medieval castle or embark on a walk around town, complete with local treats. How do I make a booking once I have purchased a Global Escapes voucher?
Customers will need to contact the Global Escapes team. When you contact us to make your booking, we will endeavour to book and confirm all components of your package within 72 hours of receiving your booking details. Should we not be able to confirm any component, we will contact you with an alternative within 72 hours. Can I cancel or make changes to my booking?
Should you need to cancel for any reason once full payment is made, subject to clause 4 in the Terms & Conditions, you will not be entitled to any refund, including any extra purchases. Fees will apply should any amendments be required after booking your voucher (minimum fee of $100 per person). In addition to the amendment fees, any supplier terms and conditions will be applied. Can I purchase travel insurance through Global Escapes?
